Parent Panel

Parent Panel at Giffard Park Primary School

What is the Parent Panel?
The Parent Panel is a partnership between parents and the school. It is a valuable way to share ideas, views, concerns and make suggestions for improvement.

The aims of the Parent Panel will be to:
· work together to improve the education provided for our children
· share information, knowledge and skills
· meet in a mutually supportive environment
· further improve communications between parent/carers and staff/governors
The Parent Panel does not have any statutory responsibilities, duties or powers in the school.  The Panel will be chaired by Mrs Wiles.  At times other members of the school community may also attend the meetings depending on the agenda items and what the school feels they would like to share and discuss with the parents.
Why should I be part of the parent Panel?
It gives you, the parent, an opportunity to get together with other parents to have your say on what the school is doing well, and suggest ideas of how things could be improved.

How often will the Parent Panel meet?
Whilst we are in lockdown we would like to meet each week if possible at 2pm up until the half term.
Dates as follows:
12th January
25th January
5th February (dates for next half term to be agreed)

What will be discussed at the meetings?
I am keen to hear your thoughts on our current approach and also your questions going forward which I can then either answer, take back to the Headteacher and the rest of the Senior Leadership team or be able to bear in mind as we forge ahead into shaping a new normal for our children. In looking at how we manage school going forward, our driving principles are based on first and foremost what is safe for the children, staff and parents and then on how we can ensure high quality provision academically, socially and emotionally for your child.
The meetings will be informal and are on opportunity for an open discussion.

It is not for the Panel to discuss concerns or complaints involving individual children, families or members of staff.
How can I raise an issue?
Please email your question or concern on the day prior to the meeting to to ensure we are able to address them during the
meeting time.

Please note you do not need to have a Zoom account to access the meeting, just a phone, laptop or
tablet with a microphone and camera. I hope that this offer is well received and confirms our desire
to continue to work with you during this unprecedented time.

In the meantime, if your questions are specific to your child’s learning, then continue to email the
class teacher as you are doing now.
