Maths Day at Summerfield School
5th October 2015
Our fantastic Maths day at Summerfield School!
On the 5th October 2015, nine children from Year 5 and 6 took part in a maths day at Summerfield School. The children who came were: Charlie, Erin, Ivan, Bryonie, Alfie, Bella, Ellis, Beau and Hannah. We had great fun and would like to tell you about our day.
Firstly, we had a tour around the school and then we settled down into the hall. A skilful mathematician or (Math’magician’), called Andrew Jeffrey, taught us how/what a mathematician was all about he also taught us a range of mind blowing tricks and complicated patterns.
Erin quoted “I had lots of fun and hope that we could host this at our school.”
Ivan reported “Really brilliant!! I loved the magic circle activity!”
Charlie exclaimed “The mathematician was very entertaining, when explaining the maths problems!”
- Use each number (1-4) only once per row and column.
- Cages with just one square should be filled in with the target number in the top corner.
- A number can be repeated within a cage as long as it is not in the same row or column.
- If the number in the top corner says '3+', the numbers in the cage must total 3 when added together (1+2). It doesn't tell you which order to put them in though!
